Questions people ask
Do you need a travel crib?
It depends on where you're staying. Babylist notes that many hotels and some rentals supply one, and gear rental companies are an option, but if you want control over where your baby sleeps, a travel crib is a good idea. Its sleep expert says to look for 'playard' on the box, since that term is regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Light travel crib or a classic Pack 'n Play?
Think about how you travel. Babylist says weight matters most if you fly or carry the crib a lot, which is where 13-pound picks like the Guava Lotus shine. For road trips or a crib that lives at the grandparents', the heavier but cheaper Graco Pack 'n Play works.
How loud should a sound machine be on the go?
As low as still works. Babylist says the AAP recommends placing a sound machine seven feet from your baby's sleep space at the lowest effective volume, and when that's not possible on the go, its pediatric audiologist suggests turning the volume down to make up for the shorter distance.
