how we pick
All Set List makes checklists for life's big moments: moving into a dorm, a first camping trip, a first apartment. For every category you need, we find a budget pick, a mid-range pick and a splurge.
where the picks come from
We compare specs and prices, and dig through expert reviews, owner reviews and forums like Reddit. Then we summarize what people love and what they complain about, in plain words. Every product card shows who recommends it.
how the All Set Score works
Every product gets a score out of 10, calculated the same way for everyone:
- 6.0 base — every pick on the site has been researched, so it starts here.
- Up to +2.5 for expert backing — about +0.9 for each independent reviewer that recommends it, plus +0.4 when that recommendation is a top award like "best overall."
- +0.3 to +1.5 for value — compared with the other picks for the same need on that list, the cheaper option scores higher.
Scores are capped at 9.9. The top-scoring product for each need gets a "#1" badge. A lower score doesn't mean a product is bad — it often just means fewer expert reviews exist for it yet, or it's the splurge option.
