Disc golf is golf's chill cousin: no clubs, no collared shirts, just a few discs and a park course.
Start with a 3-disc set, which gives you a driver for distance, a mid-range for in-between shots and a putter for the basket. That's genuinely all you need for your first rounds. Once you're hooked, a spare putter, a small bag and a portable basket for backyard putting practice are the upgrades. BestReviews compared starter sets, putters, bags and baskets, and every pick here comes from those guides. Plastic matters a little: BestReviews notes the Innova set's DX plastic is durable, and Latitude 64's Retro plastic is made to break in easily. Each card shows the drawback the reviewers called out.
Who this is not for. Skip this if you're after clubs and a tee time; the Golf Starter list covers balls, gloves and rangefinders.
Tell me what you can spend. I pick a tier for every item, essentials first, and show what is left. The first amount covers everything you need at the cheapest tier.

Some are. BestReviews notes the discs in the Innova Disc Golf Set are approved by the Professional Disc Golf Association, so they can be used in tournaments.
