Small pets are easy to buy wrong. The cage that sits next to the pet food at a big store is often the wrong size, and the wrong size is the part that costs the animal. I started from the pet rescues and the vet pages, not the stores. House Rabbit Society says a rabbit needs a 4 by 4 foot pen and hours of free time. A guinea pig rescue says two pigs need about 10.5 square feet. Then I looked for specific products that fit those sizes. I have not tested any of this and I have not owned these pets. Most of what I found is from care guides and roundups, so the evidence here is limited and I say so on each pick. Where I only found one honest option, there is one pick and a note. Zach

Birds and reptiles are left out. The bearded dragon kit sources said 40 gallon kits are too small and the UVB is weak, and the bird cage sources were generic. I would rather skip them than guess.
