No starter kits here, since we have a separate page for that. Instead you get the things knitters tend to wish for but rarely buy themselves: a good interchangeable needle set, a yarn bowl, blocking boards, a light for evening knitting and tools that make finishing easier. I pulled picks from three published knitter gift guides (Finding Dulcinea, Handy Little Me and Sarah Maker) and kept only products that a guide named. One practical tip: check what needle sizes and fiber they already use before buying a set, and when in doubt, choose a small tool over a big one. Knitters love a gift that gets used on the very next project.

Who this is not for. If the person is brand new to knitting, skip this list and start with our knitting starter page instead.

Questions people ask

What do you get a knitter who has everything?

Go for the small tools and finishing gear they may not own yet, like blocking boards, sock blockers, a fabric shaver or a yarn butler. Handy Little Me and Sarah Maker both lean on these kinds of practical extras.

Should I buy yarn as a gift?

Only if you know their fiber, weight and colors. A safer move is a tool or accessory, or a gift card so they can pick yarn themselves. Sarah Maker suggests a gift card to a yarn store as a bonus idea.

Are interchangeable needles a good gift?

Several guides pick them as a top gift, including Finding Dulcinea and Sarah Maker, because one set covers many sizes. Make sure the tip style (blunt or lace) fits how they like to knit.

What if they knit socks?

Sock blockers and a wool wash are easy wins for sock knitters, and both show up in Sarah Maker's guide.

When should I order so it arrives by Christmas?

USPS's recommended last send dates for December 25 in the contiguous US are December 17 for Ground Advantage, December 18 for Priority Mail and December 19 for Priority Mail Express. Retailers set their own order-by dates, so check at checkout.
